1st NATOPEX slogan

The slogan cancel promoting the 1st Natopex was used for only one day, September 1, although the National Topical Philatelic Exhibition was held from September 1 to 14, 1957.

7th APOPEX slogan

The 7th APOPEX, as promoted in this slogan cover, was held at the Manila Post Office from November 24 to December 7, 1957.

"The exhibit," reported the Philippine Journal of Philately, "drew much applause from stamp aficionados."

The slogan cancel was used for only one day, on the opening day of the show.

Philatelic Flashes

I wonder what was inside this envelope mailed by the Stamp and Philatelic Division of the Bureau of Posts to the editor of Philatelic Flashes.

Was it a new issue bulletin? Mint new issue stamps? These covers addressed to Georgie M. Martin span the years from the 1950s to 1970s.

Maybe she was a subscriber to Philippine new issues.

Slogan cover for the Philippine Centenary International Philatelic Exhibition.

This exhibit was held at Manila from April 25 to May 9, 1954 for the centennial of the Philippine postage stamp.

This slogan cancel was used leading up to the show, from April 16 to 24.

2nd APO Philatelic Exhibit

The 2nd APO Philatelic Exhibition was held at the Manila Post Office in 1952.

"The exhibition came as a surprise to everybody who expected to see a bunch of kids putting up an amateurish exhibition," reported the Philippine Journal of Philately. "Instead, they saw college students and professionals who displayed their collections with such seriousness, artistry, and originality as to earn the distinction of presenting one of the finest junior exhibitions here in Manila."

This show was mounted by the Amateur Philatelists Organization (now known as the APO Philatelic Society).

PPAC 12th anniversary

Someone who attended the party and auction sale of the Philippine Philatelic Auction Club's 12th anniversary celebration said he remembers well the good food served during this event.

Someone else pasted this ticket on an envelope and had it cancelled on October 9 -- foundation day of PPAC.

PPAC membership cover

In 1988 the Philippine Philatelic Auction Club, on its 11th anniversary, mailed out to members an interesting cover.

This served as a membership card!

Philpex 83 cover

A combination first day cover for Philatelic Week 1993 and show cover for Philpex '93, the Philippine Philatelic Exhibition held at the Manila Central Post Office from Nov. 22 to 27, 1993.

It says Philpex '93 was an exhibit of the International Philippine Philatelic Society in cooperation with the Philpost, United Nations Postal Administration, Cebu Philatelic Society, Quezon City Philatelic Society and Young Philatelists' Society.

Looks like the signature is that of Edison G. Cornejo of the YPS. There's an EGC beside the IPPS logo at left so he must have designed this show cover.

Golf slogan

This is a slogan cover for the Philippine Open Golf Championship of 1964.

The cancellation was used in Manila on February 20.

Republic 2nd anniversary

A special occasion cachet used by the post office was for the second anniversary of the Republic of the Philippines on July 4, 1948.

On this cacheted cover it comes with the first stamp of the republic issued in 1946.

Acme

The slogan cancel on this cover was used only at MacArthur, Leyte.

Douglas MacArthur lived from 1880 to 1964.

Chrisquapipex cover

Here's an interesting Chrisquapipex cover: It uses a United Nations souvenir sheet!

If you recall, the Asociacion Filatelica de Filipinas was made a philatelic agent of the UN beginning with this exhibit.

Awardees of Chrisquapipex, the Christianization Quatercentennial Philippine International Philatelic Exhibition, include Don Jesus Cacho (International Grand Award "for the rarest philatelic material in the show"), Rogelio de Jesus (the Mexican "Año de Amistad" Silver Medal), Ysmael 'Boy' Inductivo (the American Topical Association Merit Award), and Rizal's Story In Stamps (Gold, literature category).

El Economico slogan

The slogan cancel for the PAL El Economico inaugural flight was used in Manila from July 23 to July 31, 1954.

APO 10th

Slogan cover for the 10th anniversary of the APO Philatelic Society in 1960.

Postpex 82 cover

Here's a Postpex '82 cover with a marginal block of ten Woman & Carabao stamps of 1935 privately overprinted by the Philippine Philatelic Auction Club.

This was for the 5th anniversary of PPAC in 1982.

Manna Filatelica IV cover

Manna Filatelica was an annual event of the Pampanga Stamp Collectors' Society.

The privately issued souvenir sheet on this cover with a slogan cancel says it's the 4th such event and inscribed "Initiating the Philippines' First Annual International Stamps Exhibit".

It was held at the Philippine Christmas Village from December 7 to 12, 1998.

Here's another commercial cover with a missent marking.

Mailed from Manila, it was missent to Baldwin Park in California, as the handstamped auxiliary marking says.

The intended address is Burbank (home to movie studios), which is also in California.

This commercial cover from Manila to the United States has an auxiliary marking -- Missent to San Diego, Calif. -- despite being addressed to California.

Looks like the addressee was not located in San Diego!
