The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is commemorating 100 years of cinema in the Philippines on 12 September 2019 through “Sine Sandaan: Celebrating the Luminaries of Philippine Cinema” as well as the issuance of commemorative stamps by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) entitled “SANDAAN - Celebrating 100 Years of Philippine Cinema”.
PHLPost is releasing stamps, souvenir sheets, and official first-day covers for this monumental celebration. Featured on the stamp is the logo of SANDAAN appearing on a stylized movie ticket, highlighting the dates 1919-2019. The souvenir sheet presents acclaimed director and producer Jose Nepomuceno, considered by many as the “Father of Philippine Movies”. His film Dalagang Bukid was the first Filipino-produced silent film, starring Atang de la Rama and Marcellano Ilagan. Dalagang Bukid was released on 12 September 1919.
The FDCP will lead the year-long celebration of the Centennial Year of Philippine Cinema, which begins on 12 September 2019 and will culminate on 11 September 2020, per Presidential Proclamation No. 622 Series of 2018.
Stamps and Official First Day Covers of “100 Years of Philippine Cinema” will be available at the Philatelic Counter, Manila Central Post Office, all Mega Manila Post Offices, Postal Area 4, San Pablo, Postal Area 5, Mandaue, Postal Area 7, Davao, and Postal Area 8, Cagayan de Oro.

1950: AFF 50th anniversary
For the 25th anniversary of Asociacion Filatelica de Filipinas, a set of three stamps and a souvenir sheet were issued on May 22, 1950 featuring American philatelic president Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) examining his stamp collection. FDR was an honorary member of AFF.

1949: UPU 75th Anniversary
On October 9, 1949 the 75th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union was commemorated with a set of three stamps and a souvenir sheet. Pictured is the UPU Monument in Berne, Switzerland. Philippines entered the UPU on January 1, 1922.

Possible shades of color in all three stamps of the set.
Imperforate copies come from the souvenir sheet, which the post office allowed for use in mail beginning on August 31, 1960. The 6c and 4c are usually in pairs. Reportedly 915,000 souvenir sheets were cut up.
The quantity printed for the souvenir sheet was further reduced by an unofficial overprint in 1960 reading "President D.D. Eisenhower visit to the Philippines June 14-16,1960", and another overprinting by the post office in 1963.

1947: NAPEX souvenir sheet
The first souvenir sheet of the Republic era was issued on November 8, 1947 for the National Philatelic Exhibition (Napex).
Napex was held at Manila from November 28-30, 1947. It was sponsored by the Philippine Philatelic Club.

The four 1-centavo stamps, same design as the Manuel L. Quezon issue of May 1, are imperforate.
Printing flaws:
One or two green dots in different positions.

1st Philacon FDC
Here's a first day cover for the Philacon '91 issue (an overprinted 1982 souvenir sheet).
The First National Philatelic Convention (Philacon '91) was held at the Manila Central Post Office from November 27 to 29, 1991.
Cachet at left represents the 10 participating stamp clubs: APO Philatelic Society, Filipino-Chinese Philatelic Society, Baguio Philatelic Society, General Santos City Stamp Club, Cebu Philatelic Society, International Philippine Philatelic Society, Chinese Philatelists' Club of the Philippines, Philippine Philatelic Auction Club, Clark Stamp Club, and Quezon City Philatelic Society.

Chrisquapipex cover
Here's an interesting Chrisquapipex cover: It uses a United Nations souvenir sheet!
If you recall, the Asociacion Filatelica de Filipinas was made a philatelic agent of the UN beginning with this exhibit.
Awardees of Chrisquapipex, the Christianization Quatercentennial Philippine International Philatelic Exhibition, include Don Jesus Cacho (International Grand Award "for the rarest philatelic material in the show"), Rogelio de Jesus (the Mexican "Año de Amistad" Silver Medal), Ysmael 'Boy' Inductivo (the American Topical Association Merit Award), and Rizal's Story In Stamps (Gold, literature category).

Manna Filatelica IV cover
Manna Filatelica was an annual event of the Pampanga Stamp Collectors' Society.
The privately issued souvenir sheet on this cover with a slogan cancel says it's the 4th such event and inscribed "Initiating the Philippines' First Annual International Stamps Exhibit".
It was held at the Philippine Christmas Village from December 7 to 12, 1998.

Amitypex 85 FDC
Here's a first day cover for the 10th Anniversary of Philippine-China Diplomatic Relations issue of 1985.
According to the Amitypex '85 show cancel, the exhibit was held from June 8 to 17, but other sources say June 9 to 16.
The initial overprinting of the 1981 souvenir sheets had no apostrophes on the inscription PEOPLE'S, so these were added later by hand. Succeeding overprints have apostrophes.

Exhibitors from some 40 countries including the Philippines will showcase their valuable stamp which focuses on Chinese tradition and the evolution of papermaking and art on paper.
The embellished souvenir sheet features the monkey, rooster and dog in the twelve-year Chinese zodiac cycle.
2016 was the year of the monkey while 2017 is the year of the rooster, and 2018 will be the year of the dog.
The upper right corner of the souvenir sheet is the “Nanjing 2017” logo.
The word “Year of the ROOSTER” was printed in gold to emphasize the 2017 Year of the Rooster.
The coming 2018 year of the dog is the eleventh in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac sign.
The dog is the symbol of loyalty, honesty and possesses the best traits of human nature.
People born under this sign are honest, friendly, loyal, smart, straight forward, and venerable and have a strong sense of responsibility.
PHLPost has printed 4,000 copies of the P100 peso denomination of the special “Nanjing” stamp.

In 1992 the Philippine Postal Museum and Philatelic Library was inaugurated.
To mark this event, the 1980 MacArthur Centenary souvenir sheet was overprinted.
Sadly this facility today no longer exists.

Postage Stamp Day card
According to a stamp dealer, this souvenir item was made for a Postpex event of the Philippine Philatelic Auction Club. This must have fallen on Postage Stamps Day of 1979.
Printed by silkscreen, the image at top illustrates the first stamp of the Spanish Philippines.
Affixed on the card is the 1949 Universal Postal Union souvenir sheet overprinted in 1963 for the 15th anniversary of the United Nations adoption of the Declaration of Human Rights.
The sheet is cancelled on October 9, 1979.
