Philpex 83 cover

A combination first day cover for Philatelic Week 1993 and show cover for Philpex '93, the Philippine Philatelic Exhibition held at the Manila Central Post Office from Nov. 22 to 27, 1993.

It says Philpex '93 was an exhibit of the International Philippine Philatelic Society in cooperation with the Philpost, United Nations Postal Administration, Cebu Philatelic Society, Quezon City Philatelic Society and Young Philatelists' Society.

Looks like the signature is that of Edison G. Cornejo of the YPS. There's an EGC beside the IPPS logo at left so he must have designed this show cover.

Here's a show cover of Youngpex '93, the exhibit mounted by the Young Philatelists' Society for its 7th anniversary.

The show was held at the Manila Central Post Office from February 22 to 28, 1993.

Miggins collection

The Philippine Philatelic Society Journal was published by the UK-based Philippine Philatelic Society.

This journal was merged in 2008 with the Philippine Philatelic Journal of the International Philippine Philatelic Society.

Can someone confirm if this UK club is now defunct?

Yes, I was a member of the International Philippine Philatelic Society.

The IPPS used to have a membership card and my number was 261, which remained the same for a number of years hence.

Cofounders of the society in 1974 were Linda and Frank Stanfield (1916-1979).

IPPS can only be described in superlatives. Its publications are scholarly and cover all aspects of Philippine philately. Its auction sales offer the most diverse Philippine material. Its members are the best in their fields of interest, garnering the highest awards at philatelic exhibitions.
