20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UPU EMS COOPERATIVE

20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE UPU EMS COOPERATIVE
The EMS Cooperative of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) is celebrating its 20th anniversary on 10 September 2019. The EMS Cooperative was established during the Beijing Congress exactly 20 years ago in 1999.
EMS is the fastest postal product, combining speed with reliability, affordability, and customer focus. EMS Cooprative members have achieved significant results in all of these areas by the UPU International Bureau for this occasion.
This important milestone will be celebrated across the entire EMS Cooperative with a stamp issuance for its 20th anniversary. Members of the cooperative will participate in a joint commemorative stamp issuance via a template provided by the UPU International Bureau.
For the Philippines, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) is issuing the commemorative stamp provided by the UPU International Bureau, with the Philippine flag appearing over the UPU International Bureau’s flag. The theme of the stamp, “Delivering excellence 1999 -2019: UPU EMS Cooperative” appears on top of an image exemplifying the value of EMS to the world. This image was the Vanuatuan entry to the “EMS Connecting the World”, which won the photo competition held by the EMS Cooperative.

FSCC auction September 2019

Here's what I won in today's auction of the Filipinas Stamp Collectors' Club: a Youngpex '92 souvenir card with a P2 greetings stamp cancelled on the first day of the show held at the Mapua Institute of Technology. The back side is blank.

This stamp exhibit was mounted by the Young Philatelists' Society for its 6th year anniversary.

Some 20 bidders participated in the sale featuring over 500 philatelic and nonphilatelic lots.

We were moved to a side location from the usual main lobby because a film crew with cameras, lights and smoke fog machine were shooting a TV commercial.

Think It Over #1

Rizal Martyrdom postal card with what looks like a newspaper clipping of Think It Over by H. M. Stansifer saying "The happiest people are generally busy helping others". Also has a cut-out of the Cebu provincial seal.
On its reverse is a printed consignment form of the Manila Steamship Company, which ceased shipping in 1955. As the slogan cancel is dated August 17, 1954, my guess is that this was an excess and never used, hence it no doubt was made into a souvenir by Pablo Esperidion, the well-known philatelist of that company.

APO auction September 2019

So, what did I win in today's auction of the APO Philatelic Society?
This clean first day cover for the 1990 Philatelic Week issue. Clean means there are no rust spots/tropical stains on the stamps and envelope.

Beginning in 1990, the Philatelic Week (last week of November) issues reproduced artworks, a theme continued by the National Stamp Collecting Month (entire month of November) sets issued later.

Seventeen bidders participated in the sale featuring some 450 philatelic and nonphilatelic lots.
