Manila 400th forgery

Genuine
Forgery
In 1971 the 4th centennial of Manila was commemorated on two stamps, 10s and P1.

The P1 is airmail (panghimpapawid) and a forgery of it was made.

Was this a postal forgery at the time? Or is it a philatelic forgery made to look like an EFO?

'unofficial' official 1

Broken L and serif of S
It wasn't until 1926 when the post office during the American administration began issuing official stamps, but in 1905 permission was granted to overprint stamps for use on official mail.

Some of the pre-1926 stamps were handstamped with O.B. (top stamp), which stood for official business, or with OFFICIAL (bottom stamp).

Marahui

A duplex cancel of Camp Marahui in the then Moro Province, Philippine Islands.

Marahui must be the old spelling of Marawi.

The Camp Marahui post office was opened in 1904 and closed in 1905.

Looks like this stamp on piece was cancelled on the last day of the post office!

EFO 1963 Roxas credo

Normal Copy
Black inscriptions shifted to the left
Black inscriptions shifted to the left
This EFO of the 1963 Presidential credo series is unrecorded in the IPPS EFO catalog.

My EFO discovery earlier this month.

The black has to touch the blue, to be considered dramatic.

gold bullion

A set of two high values (P10 and P20), same design but different in color, were issued on August 27, 1937.

Harradine's handbook notes the following: "It had been discovered that, mainly through the need to prepay adequate postage (and insurance!) on small bars of gold and silver bullion, it was necessary to issue stamps of higher denominations in order to save plastering such parcels with stamps of lower values...."
