Found this used FAO airmail in a packet of 100 stamps I bought for forty-five pesos in today's auction sale of Filipinas Stamp Collectors' Club. I say it's a lucky find for the price paid!
Some two dozen bidders, including a few absentee bidders and one who was vacationing from Hawaii (I was informed he was a regular years ago), participated in the sale offering over 500 philatelic and nonphilatelic lots.
By now Ompong's destruction of lives and properties is known. While the supertyphoon was raging in the northern part of the country and bringing rains in Manila yesterday, many were wondering if the auction would push through.
Today was all right, however, except for a heavy downpour midway in the auction; but it stopped before the auctioneer closed the sale, and the coast was clear by the time we all went home.
