Shown here is one of the covers I got in today's auction sale of the APO Philatelic Society held at the Philpost lobby
It was originally sent in September 1986 for a Filipino stamp collector working in Saudi Arabia at that time. In 2005 he brought it to the 1st Rizal Philatelic Exhibition in time for the last day of use for the show's slogan cancel. A month later he took it to the Manila Central Post Office for what looks like a favor cancel (don't know why). The lengths a collector will go to just to add something unusual to his Rizaliana collection!
Rizalpex 1 was held at a mall in Cainta, Rizal, from February 7 to 14, 2005. It was organized by the Region IV office of the Philippine Postal Corporation, and probably the Rizal Philatelic Club (whose formation I believe was spearheaded by PHLPost 4--can someone here confirm this--but now is inactive).
Some 15 bidders participated in the auction featuring about 470 philatelic and nonphilatelic lots. Before the sale began, Philippine Philatelic Federation president Rey Ong announced the passing of stamp dealer Ray Coughlin (he was a recipient of the International Philippine Philatelic Society Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010).
