PPAC 8th anniversary

Here's a pair of TB seals overprinted by the Philippine Philatelic Auction Club for its 8th anniversary.

The foundation day of the PPAC is October 9, which also is World Post Day.

This issue of the TB seal was released in 1976.

Officially Sealed

This was used by the postal bureau to seal envelopes that were damaged in transit.

The golden anniversary of the Quezon Institute was commemorated on the 1988 seals issued se-tenant showing personalities, the Institute, and places of worship.

1987 TB seal

"Things Philippines" were the subjects for the 1987 TB seal.

Also issued se-tenant, these "Things Philippines" were Calesa, Rice Terraces, Tinikling, Jeepney, Mayon Volcano, Singkil, Moriones, Careta, Ati-Atihan, Itik-Itik, Vinta, Fruits, Noli Me Tangere, Mi Ultimo Adios, Jose Rizal, and Fort Santiago.

1985 TB seal

Flora and fauna were the subjects for the 1985 TB seal.

Issued se-tenant together with reproductions of the 1910 and 1946 TB seals, the featured flora and fauna were Philippine Eagle, Magellan butterfly, Sampaguita flowers, Bangus, and Tamaraw.

1978-79 TB seal

The 1978-79 TB seal continues its campaign to phase-out tuberculosis in the barrio.

TB seals used to be sold at post offices nationwide for use on mail posted during the Christmas season. At times the seal receives a postmark especially if this was affixed next to postage stamps.

1976 TB seal

In 1976 (there is no year date on the seal), a woman farmer is depicted with the slogan "TB phase-out goes to the barrio".

1973/74 TB seal

For Christmas 1973 and New Year 1974, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society illustrated a medical visit to a villager. This seal is rouletted.

TB seals are different from anti-TB semipostal stamps despite the same Lorraine Cross as design element for both.

1947 Christmas seal

The Philippine Tuberculosis Society issued this Christmas seal in 1947 depicting a profile of President Manuel L. Quezon and a partial view of the Quezon TB Institute.

Interestingly, the seal is multicolored -- not like Philippine postage stamps at that time, which were issued in only one or two colors.
