Christmas mail schedule

PRESS RELEASE: Send your mails and parcels early, PHLPost reminds public

December 2, 2015 As the Christmas season is coming near and people are now busy preparing for the holidays, PHLPost reminds those who wish to send their Christmas mails and presents to post it as early as possible to be able to reach its recipient before Christmas and New Year.

Postmaster General Josie dela Cruz advised the public to send their mails and parcels before the prescribed dates to guarantee the arrival of their items in time for the Yuletide season.

As a guide to senders, PHLPost issued a Christmas mail schedule for its Domestic and International Express, Registered and Ordinary Mails, and parcels where clients should send not later than the specified date to ensure that mails and parcels will reach its destination before Christmas day (December 25) and New Year (January 1).

Holiday-related Domestic Express mails (DEMS) should be sent not later than December 16 (Wednesday), and December 14 (Monday) for International Express mails (IEMS).

Domestic registered mails should be posted earlier than December 10 (Thursday.

Meanwhile, Domestic Ordinary mails should be sent on or before December 11 (Friday) while international ordinary mails should be sent not later than December 7 (Monday).

Lastly, the deadline for domestic parcels is set on December 10 (Thursday).

Dela Cruz also urged those in the provinces to mail their items earlier than the above schedule in order to reach destination in time for Christmas and New Year. Post Offices all over the country are open Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, except holidays.

She further said that the volume of letters and parcels sent through post offices are expected to increase during the Christmas season.

PRESS RELEASE: PHLPost releases 2016 Year of the Monkey commemorative stamps

December 28, 2015The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released two (2) Year of the Monkey Commemorative Stamps in time to welcome the New Year in 2016.

The colorful Year of the Monkey commemorative stamps features two (2) designs, a close-up and another full image of the monkey measuring 4 cms x 3 cms which are now available in limited quantity at the Post Shop located at the Manila Central Post Office and post offices nationwide.

The close-up image of a monkey’s face is being sold for P10 each. PHLPost commissioned Amstar Security Printer to print 55,000 copies of this stamp.

Another 55,000 copies showing the full image of the monkey were also printed and are being sold at P30 each.

PhlPost also issued additional 5,000 copies of the souvenir sheet at P80 each for a large number of Filipino-Chinese philatelists and stamp-collectors who have been waiting for the release of this souvenir sheet.

The souvenir sheet contains both designs in blocks of four stamps to celebrate the coming New Year in the Chinese lunar calendar.

Monkey ranks ninth in the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac.The “Monkey” individuals, according to Chinese tradition, are known to be cheerful and energetic by nature and usually represent flexibility.

People under the sign of the Monkey are wise, intelligent, confident, charismatic, loyal, inventive and have leadership. When it comes to family, those who are born in the Year of the Monkey are said to be considerate and thoughtful.

PHLPost releases 51st International Eucharistic Congress Commemorative stamps

December 8, 2015

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) released new commemorative stamps featuring the 51st International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Cebu City from January 24-31, 2016.

The Eucharistic Congress is an international gathering of people aimed at promoting awareness of the central place of the Eucharist in the life and mission of the Catholic Church.

“The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) are one in praying for the success of this international gathering of lay people and Catholic Church leaders from around the world, with Cebu, the beautiful queen city the south as the hosts of this celebration”, Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.

His Holiness, Pope Francis said that the theme chosen for the upcoming International Eucharistic Congress is highly significant: “Christ in you, our hope of glory” (Col 1:27).

The event is expected to draw 15,000 delegates from all over the world. The Congress will also feature open air masses open to the public.

The stamp design illustrates the official logo of the 51st International Eucharistic Congress. Every four years, Catholic faithful from around the world are invited to gather together to reflect and celebrate the great mystery of the Eucharist.

PHLPost commissioned Amstar Co. to print 104,000 copies of the stamps, to be sold at P15 each starting December 08, 2015. Stamps enthusiasts from all over the world will have the opportunity to buy the stamps considering the importance of this event in the history of the Catholic Church.

FSCC 10th year

This is the official first day cover for the 10th year of Filipinas Stamp Collectors' Club issue, an overprinted souvenir sheet. (There are at least two distinct shades of the souvenir sheet.)

FSCC had its beginnings in October 1994 with only five stamp collectors around. 

Then known as the Manila Stamp Collectors' Club, its first meeting was held on January 15, 1995 at a fastfood restaurant.

"Manpex '98" was the club's first exhibition held in April 1998.  
In 1999 (or was it in 2000?), the club's name changed to the present one.

One of the five founding members is Josefina T. Cura, still active in philately all these years!
