PRESS RELEASE: PHLPost issues special Saranggola stamps
July 9, 2015

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) releases the second quarter topical stamps featuring “Saranggola” (Philippine kites) of various shapes and colors.

“The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has issued its newest stamps showing the traditional motif of the popular “Saranggola”, depicting the rich artistic culture of the Philippines”, Postmaster General Josie Dela Cruz said.

Kite Flying is a favorite hobby or past time of Filipinos especially during summer season, using the “Saranggola”, usually made of bamboo sticks and plastic bags.

Laid-out by PHLPost in house artist Rodine Teodoro, these colorful stamps come in ten (10) different colors, shapes and designs, all in upward position flying across white clouds and blue skies with the word “Pilipinas” in the background.

The excitement sometimes exemplifies or reflects the dreams and aspirations of people flying the “Saranggola”.

The special stamps cost P10.00 each and only 120,000 copies were printed by Amstar Company, Inc. measuring 30X40mm.

The stamps and souvenir sheets are now available at the Central Post Office, Door 203, Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila and area post offices nationwide. For inquiries, please call 527-01-08 or 527-01-32.
