Did you know that Liwayway published a Republic stamp album?

Volume One came out in 1962 and even had a page devoted to "pointers for beginners in stamp collecting".

Not only stamps and souvenir sheets were illustrated (in black and white) but also postal stationery (stamped envelope, postal card, and aerogram).

An approvals booklet of Baldomero Fernandez of Manila, probably a stamp dealer back then.

The booklet contains 10 pages and each page has spaces for 10 small stamps (like the Baby Heads of Spanish Philippines) to be hinged.

This one had stamps of Spain.

NU stamp album

Published locally in 1981 (or was it in 1982?), the NU stamp album became popular among collectors of Republic issues.

It was a looseleaf album hole-punched for a three-ring binder. The cover was illustrated in color but the inside pages, containing outlined spaces for each stamp and souvenir sheet, were printed in black.

There were additional pages printed later to accommodate subsequent issues (up to 1984?) but, if I recall correctly, these were in different paper stock than the original.

And, if I remember rightly, the NU stands for Nenita Urdaneta (the publisher?).

Like other collectors of Republic stamps in Davao City at the time I, too, owned one, but later sold it.

Philippine stockbook

This stockbook was made in the Philippines.

Quite popular among beginners, it was sold in bookstores across the country in the 1970s and 1980s (if I remember rightly).

The pages were either black or white.
