One of the three lots I had winning bids on in yesterday's auction sale of the APO Philatelic Society is an album of stock sheets containing 115 used Philippine stamps including duplicates, 91 Japan, 42 Canadian commemoratives, 14 Jersey on-paper stamps, 15 other countries of less than 5 stamps each, a souvenir sheet of Slovenia, and an Austrian maximum card.
Got this for its starting bid price of a hundred pesos--lucky me another bidder was rather slow in raising his bid card such that it was too late by the time the auctioneer declared it sold. Some 30 bidders participated in this sale offering a total of 420 philatelic and nonphilatelic lots.
There was heavy traffic in Manila due to some roads closed as thousands of pedestrians joined a walk for a cause. Now, if they also participated in the auction...!
