APO auction October 2017

A funny thing happened in today's auction sale of the APO Philatelic Society held at the Philpost lobby.

One of the 20 or so bidders who was wont to raise his bid card to his forehead, when bidding, raised instead a Japanese occupation postal card he had won earlier!

There were 444 lots listed, philatelic and nonphilatelic, although a few were not listed and many were withdrawn because one of the consignors didn't make it to the auction.

Just before the auctioneer began the sale, Philippine Philatelic Federation president Rey Ong spoke for 30 minutes about the coming Aseanpex 2017 on Nov. 4-6 at the SMX Convention Center.

Ong said the organizers have already received more than the allotted exhibits but the extras will be kept for substitution, just in case, with one of the APO Philatelic Society members submitting 40 frames--the highest number!

He encouraged all to see the show, saying there will also be booths set up by stamp dealers and by postal administrations of the Asean community, as well as showbiz personalities.

Souvenir sheets, he added, will be released on the three exhibition days.

See you there!
