1946 Proclamation of Independence


The first issue of the present republic was issued on July 4, 1946, for the Proclamation of Independence.

The stamps are common.

Varieties to look for: Possible color shades in all 3 values.

For the first day cover, the Manila Post Office used a handstamped circular cachet (top photo), but collectors were allowed their own designs (middle and bottom photos) in addition to its first day cachet.
