FSCC August 2015 auction

There was a total of 521 lots, philatelic and nonphilatelic, in today's auction of the Filipinas Stamp Collectors' Club held at  the Philpost main lobby.

More than 30 bidders came.

Finally, a successful bid for me! This was for lot #157 described as "Philatelic References, brochures, newspaper." Got it for its starting bid price of P20 (there was no other bid).

The lot included an old issue of Linn's Stamp News, an old and crumbling issue of The Philatelic Exporter, an old issue of Stamps, new issue bulletins from the postal administrations of Jersey, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, newsletters of the Singapore Philatelic Museum, and a pleasant surprise -- the May 1998 edition of YPS Gazette.

YPS Gazette was official publication of the Young Philatelists' Society, based in Manila.
This particular edition contains for its special feature "The Postal Issues of 1898" (the Aguinaldo Collection shared by Fritz Walter Lange).

It also announced an exhibitor's workshop for PILIPINAS '98, "the much-awaited philatelic event of the year" to be held from November 5 to 9 showcasing "international exhibits by invitation, a national competitive exhibition and a national SELYOLYMPICS for student-collectors." David Chiong, YPS Director, heads the exhibit committee.

I wonder if the Young Philatelists' Society still exists.
